Hi! My name is Lou and I have an incredible dream, well maybe not that incredible but very interesting none the less. I want to publish a book about Tattoos. Not about the designs, so much, but about you, the people who have the most incredible stories behind the Tat's!
I have had a keen interest in Tattoos since I was 5 years old, when I first saw my Uncle Walter’s anchor and rope tattoo on his right arm, which he proudly acquired while serving in the Canadian Navy. Being he was my favorite uncle, I found his tattoo story fascinating! He was extremely proud to have served his country, and this was his way to show the world. As a child, I thought only sailors had tattoos, but oh how wrong I was!
Well, times have changed and Tattoos are everywhere! The artistic tattoo’s of today provide an array of unbelievable brilliant color, blended in with superior detail and magnificent sketching on just about any theme, object, or visual fantasy, whether real or not, one might have. And the creativity is endless!
As a person who finds people interesting, psychology being my major, I am fascinated by the intriguing, and often heart felt stories as to why someone chose to have a particular tattoo on their body. Each tattoo, as a rule, has a deeply personal meaning that comes with each delicately drawn picture, and translates onto the body what the eyes, mind, and heart never want to forget. Some of the stories come from a sad place in ones life, while others stem from a joyous moment that captures what they were doing, seeing, or feeling at the time, like a new born child coming into the world, for example. The list is endless, but each tattoo has it’s own unique story, one that is especially meaningful to each recipient.
Tattoos, as I have discovered are pieces of a story not completely told. And why not? There are so many amazingly great stories out there to be told! I have also learned that a huge number of these stories are not only inspiring, but truly motivating, as you will see in the book! Look around you, in the coffee shops, doctor’s office, university, and even church, people are proudly wearing tattoos that are trying to tell us something, if we would only stop and ask! And that is how this book was born.
I want to invite you to take part in telling the world, “Your Tattoo Story”, and to explain in your own words, what your tattoo means to you. Happy, sad, funny, or inspiring, the world is waiting!
